What We Do

SINCE 1954, WE HAVE GROWN FROM AN INSPIRED IDEA INTO AN ACTIVE ORGANIZATION THAT RESPONDS TO AN AVERAGE OF 900 CALLS PER YEAR

With two Basic Life Support ambulances, two quick response vehicles, and one Fire Rehabilitation Ambulance, we staff at least one CPR certified driver and one Emergency Medical Technician per ambulance crew. Our growing number of observers, cadets, and probationary students means we are a multifaceted first aid organization capable of administering first aid treatment and transportation for any scenario ranging from athletic injuries to respiratory and cardiac arrest. Our EMTs can administer the first line of life-saving medication and move patients in a safe and effective manner to a more advanced care facility whilst treating and stabilizing them throughout transport. Members also gain experience in working with local Advanced Life Support providers, who work hand in hand with our agency to respond to, and treat, patients of severe medical conditions.

Our FREE treatment to the sick and injured encompasses the residents, employees, and visitors of Oakland. Oakland First Aid Squad also provides FREE treatment to our surrounding municipalities when requested, according to our Mutual Aid Agreements.

It is the purpose of the squad to provide the care of the injured, wounded, sick, infirmed, and aged persons in case of emergency by rendering first aid and transportation therof to hospitals or other places for medical treatment and care
